RSS Feeds
RSS is called Really Simple Syndication…because, well…it’s a syndication of articles and it’s really simple.
It’s an Internet technology lets you to receive website content in your browser, through some email providers, or straight to your desktop. Perhaps you know this…but basically, here’s the gist of it—first you subscribe and then you get content automatically, in your feed reader. You can turn it off with one click, and, while you’re subscribed, you’re completely anonymous.
Maybe already be use a feed reader, and don’t even realize it. If you use Opera Browser (and I recommend you do) then you have RSS ready to go. We think that Opera is the fastest browser out there. Other browsers handle RSS too (maybe yours does). The symbol shows up in the address bar for websites (almost every blog) that offer RSS.
Home page services, like My Yahoo or My MSN, have RSS capabilities too. News, weather, or other information tidbits that appear on your personal page get there through RSS. You can also add content from websites and blogs that use RSS…like Qigong Foundations…
Here’s our Qigong Foundation’s RSS Feed. Or use the same little icon that’s up in your address bar…
Other web-tools and desktop-based feed readers, that work like an email program for feeds, read RSS feeds too.
If it sounds complicated, it’s really not. It’s just that: there’s a lot of options. Any way you choose it, you’ll have the same convenience of other email subscriptions, without any of the terrible consequences of giving out your personal email address to shady folks.
We’re not shady though. (We guarantee no-spam…see our email-updates page.) So we provide the same advantages, with one more. We provide a more personal, less anonymous experience. We prefer that you use our email-updates.
You decide.
